An electric wire consists of one or more flexible conductors encased in a soft sheath; a cable consists of one or more insulated conductors encased in a tough outer layer made of metal or rubber. Both cables and electric wires generally consist of three parts: the core wire, the insulating sheath, and the protective outer sheath.
Common cable characteristics are as follows: CEF-Ethylene propylene rubber insulated, neoprene rubber sheathed, marine flame-retardant power cable. CVV-Polyvinyl chloride insulated, polyvinyl chloride sheathed marine flame-retardant power cable. Oxygen chamber wiring often uses BV, BX, RV, and RVV series wires, among which: BV-Copper core polyvinyl chloride insulated wire, long-term allowable temperature 65℃, minimum temperature -15℃, working voltage AC 500V, DC 1000V, fixed installation indoors and outdoors, can be installed openly or concealed. BX-Copper core rubber insulated wire, maximum operating temperature 65℃, installed indoors. RV-PVC insulated single-core flexible wire, maximum operating temperature 65℃, minimum operating temperature -15℃, working voltage AC 250V, DC 500V, used for internal wiring of instruments and equipment. RVV-Copper core PVC insulated and sheathed flexible wire, allowable long-term operating temperature 105℃, working voltage AC 500V, DC 1000V, used in damp environments, where high mechanical protection is required, and in situations involving frequent movement and bending. Actually, there is no strict boundary between "wire" and "cable". Generally, products with fewer cores, smaller diameter, and simpler structure are called wires; those without insulation are called bare wires, and others are called cables. Conductor cross-sectional areas with larger cross-sectional areas (greater than 6 square millimeters) are called large wires, and smaller ones (less than or equal to 6 square millimeters) are called small wires. Insulated wires are also called building wires. This is simpler and easier to understand! Cables generally have two or more layers of insulation, are mostly multi-core structures, wound on cable reels, and are generally longer than 100 meters. Wires are generally single-insulated, single-core, 100-meter rolls, without reels. Common cable models: VV indicates: PVC insulation (first V), PVC sheath (second V); YJV22 indicates: cross-linked polyethylene insulation (YJ), PVC sheath (V), steel tape armor (22). Models with "ZR" or "FR" are flame-retardant cables (wires). Models with "L" are aluminum wires. Wire models are simpler: BVV--PVC insulated and sheathed copper core wire, BV--PVC insulated copper core wire, BYJ--copper core cross-linked polyolefin insulated wire, BVR--PVC insulated copper core flexible wire, BX--rubber insulated copper core wire, RHF--chloroprene rubber sheathed copper core flexible wire.
